About Us

Stepnote was originally launched in 2004 in Denmark, and was the idea of Bo Lauenborg and David Djarnel, both passionate musicians. In 2006 they were joined by Rune Sovndahl and Robbie Hammond in the UK, who both instantly fell in love with the idea of improving the way people find music tutors.

The idea behind Stepnote is simple; we want to make music teachers find great students, and students find their perfect music tutors. We cater for professionals as well as beginners. We believe that music lessons and musical ability are a central part of growing your personal skills, and whether you learn music for fun or for work, Stepnote will find the perfect teacher for you.

We belive that learning and being able to play and instrument at a higher level will benefit everyone, from young to old. We strongly belive that music should be tought from a young age and that children who learn to play an instrument will acheive a higher rate of learning and feel a sense of acheivement from a young age. By learning to play music you will develop an improved sense of hearing and rhythm that will be a skill for life.

The Stepnote Concept

Have you every tried listing yourself in the phone books or similar directories, and finding you only get calls about fire extinguishers, double-glazing and insurance? If you finally get someone to call you that is the right person, you find that you don't have the same tastes in genres, or your skills are mismatched. Stepnote aims to eliminate those problems, and uses personal matching to avoid those problems. Learning an instrument requires patience and practice, and all of our teachers are professional trainers who have at least 3 years experience in teaching music to students, so they are equipped to take you to the right level. Stepnote lets teachers choose and select students too, so it's a two way process finding the right teacher. This is what we call personal matching.
